Batik is a method of producing coloured designs on textiles by dyeing them, having first applied wax to the parts to be left undyed.
During this workshop you will be taught how to use wax as a resist painting method. You will apply wax to areas of the cotton fabric, using a variety of tools; brushes, corks, card, tjantings or stencils then allowing the wax to cool before dyeing in an indigo vat. Once your fabric has been in the indigo vat, you will then be shown how to remove the wax.
This workshop is perfect for beginners and a great way to relax.
